Home sweet home has begun 2011 in style with our first ever foreign language show in Yokohama, Japan as part of TPAM (Tokyo Performing Arts Meeting) in February.
The show took place in the stunning 2B Gallery at BankArt Studio NYK.
The 4.5m x 15.m canvas held 350 plots. Photos and other media will follow shortly...
In September 2010 we once gain packed up our flat-packs and headed across the Atlantic for our American premiere at the Skirball Cultural Center in LA.
Here we staged our longest ever project, lasting 10 days
June 2010 saw home sweet home make its international debut at Magnetic North Theatre Festival in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada! We took up residence in the beautiful Kitchener-Waterloo Arts gallery.
In May 2010 home sweet home was part of the fantastic line up of NNF10. A 3 day event was held in the grand setting of Blackfriar's Hall in the city centre.
Part of the "do something different" weekend held at the Barbican Centre.
The show took place in the Garden Room with its stunning views out across the Barbican Centre. The ‘C’ shaped canvas approximately 15m x 7m had space for 200 houses.
Home sweet home returned to BAC in style in October 2009, taking over the BAC’s largest space the Grand Hall.
The 4 day show saw the bringing together of our 3 key interests, architecture, theatre and education.
Family learning workshops were run along side design competitions and the usual theatrical fun! The massive 20mx13m canvas held 500 homes
home sweet home was selected to appear at the Edinburgh Festival as part of the British Council Showcase.
A three day show was held at Multrees Walk as part of Forest Fringe.
Home sweet home took up residence in an empty shopping outlet and settled in for an intimate gig. The 5m x 6m canvas holding 200 plots.
The festival spirit was in full flow, with theatre’s arts centers and the very Scottish ‘Nips & Tatties’ adult venue.
home sweet home branched out of the big smoke and headed to the seaside for a three-day show, ending with a residential rave on the Saturday night as part of the White Night Festival!
For this free event Subject to_ change worked in collaboration with Broadway Malyan Architects to be part of 2008’s London Festival of Architecture.
For 2 days the Ragged School was open to the public. The 9x8m canvas held 180 houses
The four day home sweet home installation at the Shunt vaults saw the project take a massive leap forward in both ambition and scale - the canvas covered an area of 114 m2.
There were 200 properties up for grabs: 50 detached houses, 40 flats, 20 shops and 90 terrace houses.
This three day piece at BAC consisted of eight hours construction time each day. home sweet home consisted of a 6 x 5m canvas with road and plot markings stencilled on.
The canvas held 75 plots. Residents could ‘upgrade’ from a standard Terrace or Flat design, to a Shop or Detached house.
